About DPS Sign and Screenprint
Denis Pearson started DPS as a part time venture in 1977. Initially the intention was to
make a selection of reproduction metal signs for sale as souvenirs at preserved railways.
The idea caught on and business expanded so that by 1981 it became a full time occupation,
premises were acquired and equipment purchased.
Printing of garments was the next expansion. This in turn led to contract printing for
local companies onto mattress covers, dusters and chamois cloths.
The expertise gained in making metal signs has enabled DPS to offer specialized printing
experience to companies in the electronic, metal fabrication and container manufacturing
industries.
Presently DPS undertake all aspects of the screenprint process, including design & artwork,
screen preperation and exposing of screens and screenprinting itself.
A full time work team, supplemented by part time staff as needed, means that DPS can
offer a fast turn around of customer needs.
Whilst all the industrial expansion has been taking place DPS have been careful not to neglect
their initial reason to exist - the heritage market. In the past couple of years DPS have
introduced a range of fridge magnets and several new signs. Sales of all these items have
maintained a steady growth over 30 years. In fact five designs from the original catalogue
over 30 years ago are still amongst the best sellers today.
DPS are now into their Forth decade of service to Railway Preservation, Military Museums
and Heritage Projects. This, allied to their wide contacts in British manufacturing, means that
DPS Sign & Screenprint Ltd have gained the experience and expertise to fulfil the most
complex of customer requirements.
In 2007 DPS had a change of ownership as Denis decided to take a well earned retirement.
The business was acquired by and is now under the joint owenrship of Rod and Janet Camps,
who hope to expand the business further, whilst still offering quality and service to
customers old and new.
